Keeping your building’s entrance matting clean, properly placed and well maintained will keep 75 percent to 80 percent of soils from entering your facility. Vacuum your entrance matting at least once a day, and perform extraction cleaning periodically to keep the matting in top shape.
When spray buffing, be sure to always dilute the solution according to the label instructions. A little goes a long way, so use very little solution when spray buffing. Be sure the floor is clean of debris and has a proper base of finish, and always burnish after using a restorer product.
Tips for Proper Use of Gloves in the Workplace
General-purpose work gloves help reduce nuisance hand injuries by protecting against snags, punctures, cuts and abrasions. Fewer injuries means increased employee production and reduced downtime.
Chemical-resistant gloves provide protection against a wide range of chemicals that are common in today’s work environment.
Cut-resistant gloves protect hands from sharp edges, such as knives, glass, metal and ceramics.
Special-purpose gloves are designed to protect against “niche hazards,” such as excessive vibration, heat or cold.
Disposable gloves provide light-duty product and/or hand protection. As an alternative to latex disposable gloves, try vinyl and/or nitrile. They won’t cause latex allergies.
Exam-quality disposable gloves pass stringent tests that indicate fewer than 2.5 pinholes per hundred. Industrial or food grade gloves have fewer than 4.5 pinholes per hundred. More pinholes mean more tears during the donning process, which means more dollars spent.
Comfortable gloves can and do increase employee productivity. Match the product to the job at hand. Increased production means lower costs.
